Military marking for shipment and storage
Governs unit, intermediate, exterior and unit-load marking content, placement, bar code symbology and shipping label format.
SPI / packaging data
Special Packaging Instructions
When an item carries an SPI or drawing-specific packaging requirement, that document takes precedence and is worked line by line.

Commercial packaging
Applied when the contract specifies commercial (Level C) packing, still supported by DoD-compliant marking and documentation.

Barrier bag material selected by type and class to match the required water-vapor and, where applicable, electrostatic protection.

Wood packaging for export
Heat-treated, stamped lumber for international shipments so material is not held or destroyed at the border.
Specifications are applied at the revision cited in the contract. When a solicitation references a standard we have not worked to before, we confirm capability against the actual requirement before quoting rather than after award.

Six controls that keep contracts clean
Requirement capture
The solicitation, packaging data, SPI and any drawing notes are extracted into a single controlled requirement sheet before production is scheduled. Ambiguities are raised with the contracting office in writing.
Documented work instruction
Each line item is issued a written instruction listing materials by specification, method code, marking layout and inspection points, so output does not depend on who is on shift.
Material control
Barrier material, desiccant, cushioning, cartons and lumber are purchased to specification, received against certification, and segregated by lot so what went into a pack is traceable.
Inspection & verification
First-article verification at run start, in-process checks on seal integrity and desiccant quantity, scan verification of every bar code, and a final count and marking audit before release.
Contract administration
Delivery orders tracked to the required delivery date, receiving reports submitted through WAWF/iRAPT, and packaging records retained for the period the contract requires.
Information & item security
Technical data, drawings and SPIs are access-controlled to assigned personnel. Export-controlled data is handled only under the terms the contract establishes.
Verification, not assumption
Marking is checked against the order, every bar code is scanned to confirm it reads, and the results are recorded on the inspection record that travels with the shipment. If a label will not scan at our station, it will not scan at the receiving activity — so it never leaves the building.
